Packaging is our strength! We've got depth of experience in everything from major redesigns for brands like Betty Crocker to start-up brands looking for a nimble, entrepreneurial approach.
From start to finish, packaging presents many unique challenges. Complex processes from regulatory requirements to substrate and printing requires knowledge of the entire pipeline in order to deliver finished packaging to the production facility. Our focus is on great design that wins at shelf, but believe that beyond sound strategy and creativity, reliable execution is essential.
Whether you are redesigning a legacy brand or launching the next big thing from your garage, we get it!
case study: flackers (project 10K)
For several reasons we've given this particular project a name: "Project 10K". The entire project cost under $10,000 yet was produced by the efforts of both a strategist and designer who each have over 10,000 hours of experience in package design. This may seem unbelievable, yet we found a method that delivered the most bang for the buck on this redesign to actually deliver and still run a profitable operation. Here are the highlights:
Basic strategy and objectives are developed, but not the typical exhaustive brief created for the big brand. This alternative saves time and money, but serves to gain alignment.
Five sketches with corresponding graphic representations are presented rather than spending time (and money) to develop fully computer rendered first round options. Big brands spend a great deal of money at this step. This method does require the client to use their imagination a bit, but the degree of finish gets the idea to where it is quite easily understood.
At phase three, select designs from phase two are computer rendered. Waiting until phase three to bring design fully to life saves substantial time and money and helps focus more energy on fewer, better ideas. In spite of seeing virtually all design fully developed in this day and age, we've found that clients are capable and confident in considering ideas that are sketched and use supporting visuals to grasp.
Entire package graphics are completed with check by credentialed labeling professional. Graphic of each individual SKU are applied to die line provided by converter.
Pior to actual printed packing being available the final design can be computer rendered to appear 3D and therefore graphics are created to be used in sales materials or other uses.
Familiarity with color separation and printing processes allow excellent color and manageable consistent reproduction at press, no different than the efforts made to print major brand packaging.
